Eco-Stoves – a success story
However, there is one problem: the stoves are not waterproof, so they crack due to moisture during the rainy season. We make the stoves out of clay and leave them to dry for three weeks. Any cracks that form are filled repeatedly with thin clay.
Simon is now building prototypes of simple shelters, after which we will decide which type to use in future to protect the eco-stoves. Some very simple 'fire houses' already exist. The families pay nothing for the construction of the stoves. We pay around three francs per stove, which is roughly equivalent to a day's wage.

Even the village leader asked us to put up more bins. We have decided to continue expanding the programme.

The initial action is to provide girls and young women with a personalised cloth bag containing soap and menstrual pads.

Girls and young women stay away from school during their cycle. The intention behind this allowance is to encourage young women to continue their education.
