I'm happy to have worked in the rural areas of Zambia. I'm sure and hope my impact has been felt by many young rural souls I taught in the 37 years of my teaching career. I retired on July 5, 2024 aged 60. Happy to be a team member.
With Fred, the headteacher, we have an absolutely trustworthy person on site. Fred is our " contact person" for the SUPPORT MANDIA projects.

Evaristo Kabelenga
I come from the Copperbelt Province in Zambia and grew up in a village environment in a family of nine children, six girls and three boys. I always had the hope that I could do something for a better future for my community. I am happy that I can continue to contribute to a better community through the ‘Keep Mandia Clean’ programme, which takes place once a month.
Gift Kumoyo
Mandia is my home village, where I was born and grew up and where many of my family still live. My passion is agriculture and I hope one day to study it at College. I like working outdoors, growing plants and keeping livestock. In my spare time I love to fish from my canoe on the Zambezi River and help to coach the local youth football and volleyball teams.
As a young boy living with my grandparents I experienced many hardships and I know that life can be tough for young people growing up in rural areas like Mandia. I hope that through my example, and the work I do for Support Mandia, I may be able to inspire other young people to work hard and build a better future for themselves and their families.

“I’m happy to pass on my professional experience to young, motivated people and, at the same time, to help improve living conditions in Mandia—even if only a little.”
Anne-Sophie Ettlin, Vice President
Internal Medicine Physician
Looking back at the end of the day and feeling that I’ve been able to make a difference—sometimes in small steps, but very real—is at the heart of my profession. Especially in everyday life, I often realize how much we in Switzerland take a functioning healthcare and education system for granted. Yet this foundation is a great privilege and by no means a given everywhere in the world.
This realization drives me to look beyond our borders—to places where support is lacking—and to help create new opportunities. Because sometimes change begins exactly where someone believes it is possible.
Jean-Nicolas Ettlin, Secretary
Jean-Nicolas studied geography and law and is currently working as a law clerk in Zurich.
My past travels have broadened my perspective on different ways of life. In my role at Support Mandia, I can make a small but meaningful contribution and give something back.
